When a short stay makes sense
Caring for a parent at home is a full-time job, and everyone needs a break. Maybe you have a wedding out of state. Maybe you are having surgery yourself. Maybe you are simply tired and need two weeks of proper sleep. A short stay at Peach Pointe gives your mother a comfortable room, good meals and company, while you rest knowing she is safe.
Stays can be as short as a week or as long as a month or two. We will tell you what is possible when you call, because it depends on which rooms are open.
What a short stay includes
- A furnished private or semi-private room, made up with fresh linens
- Three home-cooked meals a day, plus snacks and coffee on the porch
- Help with bathing, dressing, walking and medications
- Caregivers in the house around the clock
- The same activities our long-term residents enjoy: music, cards, the garden and afternoon tea
- A text or call to you if anything changes
A trial stay before deciding
Some families are not ready to choose a care home for good. That is understandable. A short stay lets your father try living here with no long commitment. He can find out whether he sleeps well, likes the food and gets on with the other residents. You can see how we communicate and how he seems when you visit. Many families find that a trial stay answers questions a tour never could.

How we decide it’s a safe fit
Before any stay, short or long, we assess first. We meet your loved one, talk with you, and look at current medications and health needs. Then we tell you honestly whether we can safely meet those needs for the length of the stay. If we can, we write a short care plan so every caregiver knows the routine from the first morning.
Planning ahead
Respite rooms fill up around holidays and in summer, so it helps to call early. Bring the same things you would for a longer move. Clothes for the week, medications in their original bottles, a list of doctors and a few familiar things for the nightstand. We take care of the rest.
