Peach Pointe Adult Family Home is a real house in Centralia, WA, licensed for up to 6 residents. Photos of our own rooms are coming soon. Until then, here is what to expect when you walk through the door.
The Bedrooms
Bedrooms are bright and simple, with a big window and a quilt on the bed. Private and semi-private rooms are available. Every bed is adjustable, so getting up and lying down is easier and safer. Bring the things that make a room feel like home. Photos, a reading lamp, the chair from the den, a radio.
The Bathroom
The bathroom is built for unsteady feet. There is a walk-in shower, grab bars by the shower and toilet, and non-slip flooring. Caregivers help with bathing as much or as little as needed, always with privacy and patience.
The Living Room
The living room is where the day gathers. Armchairs face the window as much as the television. The television is still there for the ball game and the evening news. Residents read, knit, work a puzzle, listen to music or doze in the sun. Nobody minds the dozing.
The Kitchen and the One Long Table
The kitchen is the heart of the house, and it smells like one. Meals are cooked from scratch, three a day with snacks in between. Everyone eats together at one long table. Residents who like to help can shell peas, stir a pot or set out the napkins. We cook for each person’s diet and preferences, following their care plan and their doctor’s orders.
The Porch, the Patio and the Garden
Morning coffee happens on the porch when the weather allows, and most days it does. A shaded patio out back has chairs for reading and visiting. Beyond it, raised garden beds hold tomatoes, beans, herbs and flowers, and there are fruit trees, including a peach tree. Residents who want to can water, pick and snip. The way outside is level, with no steps to manage.
